The Cut That Started It All
This cutting technique has removed a lot of the guessing when cutting curly hair and it’s our specialty at Chez Soi. In the past a stylist would normally wash the hair, cut it, blow dry the hair straight, then check and tweak the cut of any imperfections. The client would then go home and the stylist would cross their fingers and hope the hair would still behave properly when worn in its natural curly state.

The entire team at Chez Soi specializes in the Curly Hair Cut! Our training includes Deva courses in New York, a Cado course in Montreal as well as additional virtual education from other curly specialists in the US.
Using a collaborative team effort along with our education, we’ve created our own unique approach to cutting curly hair. Using the tips and tricks we’ve uncovered through our experience, the curly cut experience at Chez Soi is truly special and individually tailored to your specific needs.
Why The Curly Cut?
Beauty schools do not include curly hair education as part of their program. For many stylists’, this makes cutting curly hair unfamiliar and challenging.
What’s common (and you may have experienced this), is stylists will approach curly hair in the same manner as straight hair – First washing, then cutting the hair wet and often blow-drying the hair straight. However, this technique does not take into consideration the fact that curly hair moves and falls differently then straight hair! Which leaves the question unanswered of whether the curly hair will fall as intended when you, the client, styles it at home.
This is what makes the curly cut technique revolutionary as we start by cutting your hair dry which removes much of the guessing work! By doing so, we can see how your hair falls naturally and cut it into the desired shape.

The curly cut is designed for any curl type. Whether you have tight curls or loose waves, this customized approach allows the stylist to design a cut that suits your hair. With the curly technique, we become sculptors, cutting curl by curl until the desired shape has been achieved.
Washing The Hair After The Cut
Education is an important part of the curly cut experience, and it truly begins at the sink while your hair is being washed. The cutting technique works best when followed with the use of proper products that enhance the curl and protect the hair from damage.
It’s important to know how to prep your hair, which products to use and finally how to use them to achieve the desired finished look!
At Chez Soi we go over the entire process extensively with you to ensure you leave with the confidence to care and style your curls on your own! Whether you are needing something quick or have more time to spend styling your hair, we will provide you with the information you’ll need!
